A kind of break

Dieses Wochenende werde ich eine Wettkampf-pause einlegen und die Chance nutzen bei sonnigen und heissem Wetter (was sie zumindestens hier voraussagen…… in Holland ändert sich das Wetter ja sehr schnell ;-)) viele Kilometer auf dem Rad zu machen und natürlich wieder etwas brauner zu werden ;-).

This weekend I will have a break of racing, but will make a lot of trainingskilometers in sunny and hot weather (what they predict here for the next few days…… in Holland the weather change very quickly; -)) and take the chance to become somewhat browner again; -).

Memorial Race

Heute hatten wir ein Memorial-Rennen für ein holländische Radfahrer-legende, Gerrie Knetemann, Vater unserer Fahrerin Roxanne.
Trotz das es ein neues Rennen auf dem Kalender ist, muss ich sagen, das es super organisiert war auf einem hügeligen Kurs!!! Für Rox war es natürlich ein schweres Rennen, aber sie hat grossen Kampfgeist bewiesen.
Ich war auch wieder in einer Ausreissergruppe mit Linda (wieder… ;-) )und Ellen van Dijk (VvhP). Wir wurden jedoch vom Feld wieder eingeholt und so kam es wieder zu einem Massenspurt, den Chantal Beltman (VvhP) vor Suzanne und der neuen holländischen Meisterin Marianne Vos (DSB) gewonnen hat.

Today we had a Memorial-race for a Dutch cyclist-legend, Gerrie Knetemann, father of our rider Roxanne. In spite of that it was a new race on the calendar, I must say, that it was super organized on a hilly lap, which we had to ride 3 times!!! Of course, for Rox it was a very emotional race, but she proved big battle spirit. I was again in a breakaway-group with Linda (again…; -)) and Ellen van Dijk (VvhP). We were overtaken by the bunch and so it came again to a bunch-sprint, that Chantal Beltman (VvhP) won before Suzanne and the new Dutch champion Marianne Vos (DSB).

German Road Nationals

Die Runde hatte es wirklich in sich. Das Rennen ging über 4 Runden = 118km. Gleich vom Start an ging es 7km hoch. Nürnberger machte das Rennen gleich vom Start an schwer und schon am ersten Berg waren nur noch ca 40 Fahrerinnen übrig von ungefähr 90 Starterinnen. In der 2. Runde kam dann der Mann mit dem Hammer bei mir und so viel ich zurück und kam in eine kleine Gruppe mit 3anderen Fahrerinnen zurecht. Vorne attackierte Claudia Häusler von NürnbergerNeue Deutsche Meisterin wurde Claudia Häusler vom Team Nürnberger, die in der letzten Runde eine 6-Fahrer starke Gruppe attackierte und mit ca 1min Vorsprung das Ziel erreichte. Den Spurt um Platz 2 gewann unser Bergfloh Therese vor Tina Liebig (ebenfalls Nürnberg). Unser Sprinter Gela belegte einen ausgezeichneten 7. Platz!!! Ich belegte den 28. Platz und war mit dieser Leistung sehr zufrieden, da ich vor der Meisterschaft keine Berge trainiert hatte.

The lap was really heavy, with a 7km climb from the start on and 2other climbs (each longer than 2km). We had to do 4laps = 118km. Nuremberg made the race hard from the start on and already after the first mountain only ca 40 riders were left in the peleton from approximate 90 starters. In the 2nd round, the man with the hammer came to me and I lost the contact to the peleton, but managed to stay with a small group with 3other riders. In the front Claudia Häusler of Nuremberg became new German Champion as she attacked the front group of 6riders and reached the finish with a 1min gap alone. Our climber Theresa won the sprint for 2nd place before Tina Liebig (also Nuremberg). Our sprinter Gela belaid an excellent 7th place!!! I became 28th place and was very satisfied with this, because I didn’t trained any climbs before the championships.

Time Trial Nationals

Endlich mal wieder ein Rennen in meinem Heimatland und vorallem bei sonnigem und heissem Wetter. Am Freitag hatte ich meine erste Meisterschaft im Zeitfahren. Da die Strecke beinahe in Polen (in Forst) lag, fuhren Benny (er hatte 3 Mädchen von seiner Mannschaft zu betreuen) und ich schon am Donnerstag nach Cottbus. Dort angekommen probierte ich noch einmal mein TT-Rad aus.
Am Freitag hatte ich dann um 11.34 Uhr Start und wir mussten 30km absolvieren. Ich wollte unter die besten 20 kommen, belegte jedoch Platz 23 und war somit nicht ganz zufrieden.
Gleich nach dem Zeitfahren ging es dann nach Klingenthal (nochmal 350km im Auto), wo wir dann die Deutschen Strassenmeisterschaften am Samstag hatten.

Finally I could race again in my homecountry Germany and especially in sunny and hot weather. On Friday I had my first championship in the time trial. The course was hold near the border to Poland (in the city Forst), and so Benny (he had 3 girls of his team to look after as well) and I went and already on Thursday to Cottbus, where we had our hotel. After we arrived, I tried my TT-bike and did a little ride. On Friday my starttime was at 11.34a.m. and we must ride for 30km fullspeed. I wanted to come under the best 20, but placed only 23rd. It was a good time trial but I still wa not really satisfied about the place. Immediately after the time trial, we went to Klingenthal (again 350km in the car) where we had the German roadchampionship on Saturday.

Diesmal hiess es für uns das Führungstrikot zu verteidigen. Das Rennen ging über 3 Tage und die Gesamtwertung zählte dann zur Topcompetition.

This time we had to defend the lead from Kirsten in the Topcompetition. The race was 3 days long and the general classement counts for the Topcompetition.

Donnerstag:
Wir mussten einen Zeitfahren über 7km absolvieren und Kirsten belegte trotz Radproblemen einen 7. Platz. Das Gute war, das sie mit diesem Platz sogar vor ihren Konkurrentinnen war und das machte es für uns einfacher. Das Zeitfahren gewann Linda (Buitenpoort) vor Iris Slapendeel (Vrienden van het Platteland) und Loes Gunnewijk (Buitenpoort).

Thursday:
We had to do a timetrial which was 7km long and Kirsten had some bike-problems, but did a great race and finished at 7th place. That was good, because her competitors in the Topcompetition placed all behind her, and made it a bit easier for us. The TT won Linda (Buitenpoort) before Iris Slapendeel (Vrienden van het Platteland) and Loes Gunnewijk (Buitenpoort).

Freitag:
Das Rennen war 135km lang. Es gab wie immer viele Attacken, doch am Ende kam es wieder zu einem Massensprint, den unser Team für Kirsten erfolgreich angefahren hat. Linda behielt die Führung in der Gesamtwertung der Rundfahrt mit 3 Sekunden vor Kirsten.

Friday:
The race was 135km long. It was like always….many attacks, but at the end, it came again to a bunchsprint, that our team successfully conveyed for Kirsten. Linda still lead in the general classement with 3 seconds before Kirsten.

Samstag:
Diesmal mussten wir 5km länger auf dem Rad sitzen, also 140km. Und das Rennen verlief ähnlich wie Freitag. Adrie, Theresa und Gela hatten noch die meisten Kraftreserven, um den Schlusspurt wieder erfolgreich für Kirsten anzufahren.

Saturday:
This time we had to sit 5km longer on our bike, so the race was 140km long. And the race was similar to Friday. Adrie, Theresa and Gela had still the most power left and so they made a good lead out for Kirsten, who won again.

Mit diesem Sieg gewann Kirsten sogar noch die Gesamtwertung der Rundfahrt und konnte ihre Führung in der Topcompetition ausbauen.

Wijk bij Duurstede

Wieder mal ein Criterium von 60km. Gleich zu Beginn fuhren zwei Fahrerinnen weg. Nach ca 10km fuhr ich mit zwei weiteren Fahrerinnen zu den Führenden und wir blieben bis zum Ende weg, wo wir den Sprint unter uns ausmachten und dabei beinahe noch das Feld überrundeten. Zu meiner Überraschung gewann ich den Sprint vor Loes Gunnewijk (Buitenpoort Flexpoint) und Ellen van Dijk (Vrienden van het Platteland) und konnte somit meinen zweiten Saisonsieg feiern.
Kommendes Wochenende steht dann das 4. Topcompetition-rennen auf dem Programm, eine 3-Tage Rundfahrt, wo wir die Führung von Kirsten verteidigen wollen.

Once again a Criterium of 60km. Immediately after the start, two riders went away. After ca 10km, I went with two other girls to the two leaders and we stayed away until the end, where we sprint for the victory. To my surprise, I won the sprint before Loes Gunnewijk (Buitenpoort Flexpoint) and Ellen van Dijk (Vrienden van het Platteland) and so I could celebrate my second season victory.
Next weekend we will have the 4th Topcompetition race on the program, a 3-days stage-race where we want to defend the leading of Kirsten.

Home Crit

Diesmal hatten wir ein Heimrennen und das wollten wir natürlich gewinnnen. Es war ein Criterium und war diesmal nur 50km lang. Ich attackierte gleich vom Start weg und nach zwei Runden schlossen noch vier Fahrerinnen auf, mit dabei Suzanne. Wir blieben bis zum Ende weg und überrundeten sogar das Feld. Am Ende kam es zum Sprint, den ich für Suzanne angefahren habe und sie mit einem Sieg abgeschlossen hat. Ich wurde 5. und Natalie hat den Sprint vom Feld gewonnen und wird somit 6.

This time we had a home race and of course that we wanted to win. It was a crit. again and was only 50km long this time. I attacked immediately from the start and after two laps a group of 4riders with Suzanne in it came across to me. We stayed away until the finish and lapped even the field. At the end it came to asprint. I hold the speed high for Suzanne and she won before Sissy van Alebeek (Odysis) and Regina Bruins (Swift). I became 5th and Natalie won the sprint from the bunch and become 6th.

Das Rennen ging über 145km, wobei nach ca 15km sich eine Spitzengruppe von 5Fahrerinnen bildete und bis zum Ende wegblieb. Mit dabei war unsere Australische Fahrerin Natalie (Commonwelth Games Gewinnerin), die jedoch das hohe Tempo auf den letzten Kilometern nicht mehr folgen konnte, nachdem sie nach Tour de L’Aude eine Woche Ruhe eingelegt hatte und letzte Woche auch noch krank wurde. Es gewann Monica Höljer (Schweden) vor Elen van Dijk (Vrienden van het Platteland) und Inge Velthuis (Merida). Natalie wurde auf dem letzten Kilometer eingeholt. Suzanne wird am Ende 6. und ich 20.

The race was 145km long. After 15km there were a group of 5riders formed which stayed away until the finish. In this group was also our australian rider Natalie (Commonwelth Games winner), but she wasn’t able to follow the high speed on the last kilometers after she had a one week break after tour de L' Aude and became sick as well last week. The sprint from the break away group won Monica Höljer (Sweden) before Elen van Dijk (Vrienden van het Platteland) and Inge Velthuis (Merida). Natalie was caught on the last kilometer. Suzanne became at the end 6th and I 20.

Am Sonntag dann noch ein Klassiker über 120km. Es entstand eine Gruppe von ca 10 Fahrerinnen nach ca 70 km und von uns waren Kirsten und Joos vertreten. Ca. 20km vorm Ziel attackierte Kirsten, und nur Iris Slapendeel (Vrienden van het Plattenland) konnte noch folgen. Am Ende hatte Slapendeel die meisten Kraftreserven und gewann vor Kirsten und Sharon van Essen (Vrienden van het Plattenland). Ich kam mit dem Feld ins Ziel.

On Sunday there was another classic over 120km. A group of ca. 10 riders was formed after ca 70 km and from our team Kirsten and Joos were represented. Ca. 20km before the finish Kirsten attacked and only Iris Slapendeel (Vrienden van het Plattenland) was able to follow. At the end Slapendeel had the most power over and won before Kirsten and Sharon van Essen (Vrienden van het Plattenland). I came with the peleton to the finish.

3rd Topcompetition-race

Samstag ging es zum 3.Topcompetition-race nach Middag-Humsterland. Das Rennen war 120km lang. Unsere Mannschaft fuhr sehr aggressiv. Ich fuhr lange Zeit mit Linda Villumsen (Buitenpoort) voraus und als wir wieder eingeholt waren, kam eine Attacke nach der anderen. Kurz vorm Ziel bildete sich eine 6-Fahrer starke Gruppe in der Kirsten den Sprint vor Chantal Beltman (Vrienden van het Platteland) und Suus gewonnen hat. Mit diesem Ergebnis übernahm Kirsten auch die Führung in der Gesamtwertung.
Leider kam es auch wieder zu vielen Stürzen. Der Schlimmste ereignete sich 3km vorm Ziel, wo ca. 40 Fahrerinnen fielen, darunter auch Rox, Adrie und Gela. Am schlimmsten hat es Rox erwischt.
Auf diesem Wege: Rox gute Besserung!!!

Saturday we had to ride the 3.Topcompetition-race in Middag-Humsterland. The race was 120km long. Our team went very aggressively from the start on. I went long time with Linda Villumsen (Buitenpoort) ahead and as we were caught again, the attacks went further on. Shortly before the finish there were a group of 6-riders formed. Kirsten won the sprint before Chantal Beltman (Vrienden van het Plattenland) and Suus. With this result, Kirsten took the lead over from Bertine Spijkerman (Therme)the Classement General. Unfortunately it came again to many crashes . The worst happened 3km before the finish, where ca. 40 riders fell, also Rox, Adrie and Gela were involved. The most badly was Rox.
