Yeah finally the season started

Bundesliga in Einhausen

So, nun war es endlich wieder soweit. Nach monatelangem Training stand nun das erste Rennen auf dem Programm. Ja und für mich war es wie ein Comeback. Nach jahrelanger Abwesenheit vom deutschem Radsport habe ich nun wieder mal an einem deutschen Rennen teilgenommen. Es ging gleich mit einem wichtigen Wettkampf los...die „Bundesliga“ stand auf dem Plan. Das ist eine Serie von 6 Rennen in Total. Da wir eine deutsche Profimannschaft (Team Getränke Hoffmann) sind, war es für uns natürlich wichtig, gleich einen guten Anfang hinzulegen.
Das Rennen war 95km lang und der Himmel ließ nichts Gutes erwarten. Zum Start stürmte es, aber war noch trocken. Gleich vom Start weg attackierten wir, da wir das Rennen sehr schwer machen wollten auf einer flachen Runde. Und nach ca 20km entstand dann auch eine Gruppe mit 3 Fahrerinnen (Martha, Tina und Resa) von unserer Mannschaft darin. Die Gruppe fuhr einen maximalen Vorsprung von 2min heraus, ehe von unserer Teamleitung das Kommando kam, das Loch bis auf eine Minute wieder zu zufahren, damit weitere Fahrerinnen von unserem Team hinspringen konnten. Und so spannten sich Birgit, Claudi und ich und fuhren so bis auf eine Minute heran und dann attackierte ich gleich und bekam wenig später Gesellschaft von Gela und Steffi, sowie Regina Schleicher von Nürnberg. Im Nu war das Loch zur ersten Gruppe geschlossen. Dies sah natürlich sehr gut aus für unsere Mannschaft....5 Fahrerinnen von uns von 11. Doch nun begann das Drama. Nach wenigen Kilometern stürzte eine Fahrerinnen vor mir und riss mich und Steffi mit zu Boden. Ich musste das Rennen mit Kopf- und Nackenschmerzen, sowie einigen Abschürfungen beenden und Steffi fiel mit Materialproblemen zurück ins Feld. Paar Kilometer weiter traf es wieder unser Team...diesmal hatte Gela Platten. Mit einem super Moter (Martha) vor ihr konnte sie wieder zur Gruppe aufschliessen und nun ging es zum Zielspurt. Als wären die Ereignisse zuvor nicht genug stürzte Gela auf der Zielgeraden und so ging der Sieg an Regina Schleicher vor Charlotte Becker (beide Nürnberg) und Stefanie Gronow (RG Charlottenburg). Ein kleiner Trost blieb uns, denn wir haben die Mannschaftswertung gewonnen mit Martha 6., Resa 7. und Tina 8.
Nächstes Wochenende steht Köln-Schuld-Frechen auf dem Programm und dann darf das Glück auf unserer Seite sein. Also drückt uns die Daumen!!!

Bundesliga in Einhausen

So, finally it started again. After month-long training, the first race stood on the program. Yes, and for me, it was like a comeback. After years-long absence of the German cyclingsport, I participated once again in a German race. It was direct an important one...the national league called Bundesliga. That is a serie of 6 races in total. Because we are a German pro team (team Getränke Hoffmann), it was for us naturally important to have a good start. The race was 95km long and the sky didn´t let expect any good. To the start it stormed, but it was still dry. Immediately after the start we attacked, because we wanted to make a hard race as the course was totally flat with only a highway-bridge in it. And after ca 20km, a group was formed with 3 riders of our team (Martha, Tina and Theresa) in it. The group got a maximum advantage of 2minutes, but than our teammanager said, that we had to close the cap to 1min., that Gela and Steffi could make a jump to the frontgroup and so Birgit, Claudi and I went to the front and close it to 1minute. But than I attacked direct and shortly after Gela and Steffi made the jump to me with Regina Schleicher from Nürnberg on their wheel. Pretty quick we closed the gap to the front group and that was a good advantage for us as we had 5 rider in that group, while the other teams had 2 or 3 riders in it. Now the drama started. After few kilometers one rider crashed direct in front of me and I and Steffi had no chance to react. I had to stop the race with pain in my head and neck as well few open wounds. Steffi fall back to the bunch with material problems. Couple of kilometer further it was Gela who got a flat tyre, but with a „super Moter“ (Martha) in front of her, she was able to close the gap pretty quick again. Now the group could sprint for the victory. But our sprinter crashed on the finish street and so won Regina Schleicher before Charlotte Becker (both from Nürnberg) and Stefanie Gronow (RG Charlottenburg). The luck was definatly not on our side, but at least we won the team-classement with Martha 5th, Resa 7th and Tina 8th. Next weekend we will ride Köln-Schuld-Frechen and hopefully we have a bit more luck. Therefore the thumbs up!!! You hear then again of me. Until there many greetings out of the with snow-covered Germany!!!
